Bare bones outline of a new approach to metatheory.
In the field of dynamic encounter, draw into a synthetic community of practice (Wegner, 1998), a body of voices who resonate with a kind of joint attention to/within the field of dynamic encounter. Examples may include folk who actually met in person, like The Metaphysical Club, people who gathered with a common intent, such as the Tel Quel contributors, or even just voices in a common field, such as (as I'm engaging at the moment) social theory.
Then,
calling on the wisdom of Badiou's event (1999) to draw the boundary edges
identify, for the voices:
- ontological pluralism - epistemological distance, methodological variety, ontological pluralism (Hargens, 2010)
- causal layered analysis - poststructuralist analysis of enactment through lens of litany, systemic perspective, worldview or mythology (Inayatullah, 1998)
- tacit assumptions in concepts, understood through an integral cube model of the unconscious (healthy conscious, dynamic subconscious, unhealthy unconscios, inert unconscious) (Ingersoll and Zeitler, 2010)
draw together the emergent themes, language, points of distinction, new additions to the field offered, by each contributor in the synthetic community;
look for themes emergent, the growth areas they identify in their own writing, for the field in question;
create a cone of possible futures (Voros, 2003) of probable, preferable, plausible possible and potential futures (these need much more explanation, each has a time arc and a set of principles operating)
use this cone to
disrupt linear process (Mansfield, private communication)
and
birth the implausible.
Generative, no? :)
